ServSafe Food Safety Manager Certification Course and Exam

Classes are held at the Association Headquarters from 9am - 5pm, unless your Company has arranged a special training class at your site.

Get certified in food safety! We are pleased to offer this one-day, intensive certification course in conjunction with the National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation as a prerequisite to obtaining a food safety manager card. The course is available in English and Spanish, while exams may be taken in English, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, French Canadian, and large print.

ServSafe Food Safety Manager Course and Exam RAMW members: $189 Non-members: $199
ServSafe Food Safety Manager Retake Exam only or attend the class RAMW members: $89 Non-members: $99

Course fee includes instruction from a registered ServSafe instructor, ServSafe Essentials Fourth Edition textbook, and exam.

A 10% discount is available to groups of 2 or more students from the same establishment enrolled in the same class.

Participants are encouraged to pick-up their textbook and review the material before their scheduled course and exam date


During the intensive, one-day course of the program, you will learn:

  • 2005 FDA Food Code updates,
  • How food becomes unsafe,
  • The differences between foodborne infection vs. foodborne intoxication,
  • Identifying and preventing foodborne illnesses and microbial contamination,
  • How foodhandlers contaminate food,
  • Preventing cross-contamination,
  • Identifying Food Allergens,
  • How to avoid the time-temperature abuse of food,
  • The principles of purchasing, receiving, storage, and the “flow” of food,
  • Food Safety Systems, including Active Managerial Control, HACCP, and Crisis Management,
  • Cleaning and sanitizing,
  • How to correctly prepare and serve food,
  • Sanitary facilities and pest management,
  • Employee training,
  • Food safety regulation and standards, including the government regulatory system for food and the food service inspection process,
  • and much more!

    All of our classes are held from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at our offices at 1200 17th Street, NW, Washington, DC 20036.

    Participants must register and pay for the course in advance. This is a non-refundable, yet transferable payment. A 48-hour advance notice is required to re-schedule a class date to avoid a $25 change fee.
